Board Composition

Embrave is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are committed to Embrave’s purpose and mission. Although board members do not represent community, constituency or organization in board service, the composition of Embrave should reflect as much as possible the character and nature of the communities we serve. To that end, the Nominations Committee will apply the following recruitment considerations:

  • Individuals who understand from their personal experiences, work and/or volunteer activity, issues important to vulnerable and marginalized community members
  • Individuals who live, work or volunteer in all geographical areas of Peel Region
  • Individuals from a variety of professional or sectoral perspectives
  • Individuals who reflect the diverse communities and identities of Peel

This is consistent with Embrave’s commitment to principles of access and equality in its staff, board, committee and volunteer recruitment.

Individuals who are nominated and agree to stand for membership election to the Embrave Board of Directors will be committing to a three-year term.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and attend monthly board meetings (three hours per month)
