While living at Embrave you will have full access to our laundry facilities.
These spaces are the main hub of children’s activities at Embrave.
These rooms are fully appointed with areas for dramatic play, tactile and sensory stimulation, art, homework, and quiet time.
This is where our dedicated Child and Youth Workers provide childcare, facilitate homework clubs, and engage children residing at the shelter in educational activities and free play.
We do our best at Embrave to foster an atmosphere that is warm, comfortable, and inviting.
When asked to describe the shelter environment, we like to say that it is very much like a large home.
Our centrally located living areas are spaces where you can relax, unwind, and create positive memories.
Embrave’s living rooms are outfitted with televisions and comfortable seating.
This is a safe space where residents gather to kick off their shoes in front of late-night movies, and chat in front of the tv while children play at their feet.
It is also the perfect spot to curl up with a book.
If only for a short time, it will be home.
In our dining areas, survivors gather to share stories and laughter over delicious homecooked meals at the dinner table.
Pull up a chair- you’re always welcome at our dinner table!
A child who stayed at Embrave shared with us a story that we would like to take a moment to share with you. The child loved to bake his favourite cinnamon buns with his mommy. The fragrance of warm cinnamon filled the kitchen. He shared these special treats with the other children staying at Embrave during one of the child and youth groups.
We will check out a special place just for the children at Embrave soon!
Welcome to the kitchen! The kitchen is the heart of Embrave, as it is a place where survivors gather, connect, and support one another over shared experiences.
Every year we serve over 600 meals to survivors who call Embrave their home while escaping violence in their lives.
Our communal kitchens are open 24-hours a day and are fully stocked with staple food items, snacks, and beverages for survivors.
Each kitchen is equipped with a pantry for families to access an abundance of food options in addition to a full dinner that is prepared for you by staff who work at Embrave.
While you’re staying with us, you’re welcome to make yourself at home in the kitchen- whether putting together a quick sandwich or baking cookies if you have children.
