Community Support & Outreach
The Community Support and Outreach Program provides confidential and non-judgmental supports to survivors of violence and abuse living in the community. As a client-centred program, clients define and identify their needs and what types of services they want to access. Support can take many forms, including safety planning, emotional support, referrals to other services, information-sharing and problem-solving. Support can also take the form of addressing issues or challenges they may be experiencing, such as housing support, legal support, immigration support, shelter support and more. Support can be provided in-person or remotely, such as by telephone, email, video or other platforms.
The following persons are eligible to receive supports through the Community Support and Outreach Program:
- All women and two-spirit, genderqueer, trans and non-binary people who are 16 years of age and older, with or without dependents, and who are currently experiencing, have experienced or are at risk of experiencing any form of violence
Survivors that are part of our Community Support and Outreach program have access to the Hampers for Hope program. This program supports survivors of gender-based violence and their children in accessing food and basic needs while living in the community.
A large portion of survivors accessing our supports in shelter or out in the community are on Ontario Works social assistance, which provides less than 30% of Peel’s current Living Wage. This project allows us to support our clients by providing food and hygiene baskets for them and their children.
Clients also have access to a series of workshops on financial management and literacy delivered in partnership with RBC.
Find out more about the program by calling our CSO team at 905-676-0257.

This project has been funded through Peel Region.
