The BraveVoices Podcast is a 15 episode series funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Seed Grant which creates a space to build community and connections amongst survivors in Ontario, while also providing public education pertaining to gender-based violence (GBV) and its impacts on survivors. This audio podcast will take a transparent look into the GBV sector through the amplification of a diverse group of survivors’ voices, providing a platform for survivors to share their stories of navigating the GBV sector. Episodes will also include the perspectives and reflections of frontline staff, sector experts, thought leaders and advocates within the GBV sector.
Experiencing GBV is incredibly isolating, and this podcast aims to create a survivor-focused space to empower survivors with knowledge about the critical resources necessary to obtain safety, justice, and agency. As we hear from survivors, service providers, and leaders in the community, we can learn from each other on how to better support survivors and create the necessary systemic changes to end GBV. The podcast will create space for survivors to hear from others with shared experiences and obtain a low-barrier introduction to the GBV sector, empowering them with knowledge needed to reach out for supports with confidence.
