Human Resources Assistant

The HR Assistant will provide support to Embrave’s HR Manager and Administrative Leadership Team.

What to expect in the HR Assistant Role:

As HR Assistant (Contract-Summer student), you are responsible for providing day-to-day support to the HR Manager in the effective and timely delivery of various HR functions. This is nine (9) weeks contract and functions include HR Administration, Recruitment and Selection, and HR-related projects. This includes:

  • Conduct background research and gather information to support HR projects, which may include Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, employee engagement, Wellness initiatives, and employee experience
  • Maintain employee records, conversion of paper records to digital,
  • Provide data administration support in data management systems.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process to help attract the best possible candidate for open positions
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the effective operation for the programs and services
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures as outlined by the organization to minimize risks
  • Ensure adherence to all Embrave Policies and Procedures
  • Attend evening and weekend events occasionally
  • Perform other tasks as instructed by the Development and Education Manager
  • Report stakeholders concern to appropriate team members

In this position, you will report to Human Resources Manager and will be working in person.

What you bring to the table:

  • Enrolled in Post-Secondary courses in Human Resource Management or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to work both independently under minimal supervision and with others in a collaborative environment
  • Highly ethical with confidential and sensitive information
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Able to effectively deal with inquiries and concerns from all levels of staff
  • Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines 
  • Highly ethical with confidential and sensitive information
  • Some knowledge of women’s issues and anti-oppression
  • A feminist, anti-racist and anti-oppression analysis of violence against women 

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • Human Resource skills with focus on HR administration, employee relations, recruiting
  • Fluency in additional languages would be an asset
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision

Hour of Work: Monday to Friday – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, 35 hours weekly, 7 hours/day

Pay Rate: $22.20 per hour
