The Education Program Assistant will provide support to Embrave’s Development and Education Manager and Administrative Leadership Team.
What to expect in this Role:
As Education Program Assistant (Contract-Summer student), you are responsible for providing day-to-day support to the Development and Education Manager in the effective and timely delivery of various Education Program functions. This is nine (9) weeks contract and functions include Development and Education Program-related projects.
The Education Program assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to Development and Education Manager and other team members. Apart from these administrative responsibilities, Education Program Assistant could also assist with:
- Administrative responsibilities; answering phone calls and emails, maintaining records and coordinating team activities such as meetings and workshops
- Assist in creating training documents and development of program materials
- Schedule meetings and take and distribute minutes
- Manage program calendars
- Assist in drafting contracts and budgets under supervision of management
- Liaise with project consultants and field office staff
- Assist in keeping the program plans updated so that team members can have a clear view of the status of the program
- Assist in maintaining a program’s website and social media accounts
- Assist in developing Embrave advocacy content and resources (i.e. public education campaigns)
- Assist in representing Embrave and other pertinent partnerships at community tables and collectives.
- Assist in providing background material and other documentation for external meetings
- Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures as outlined by the organization to minimize risks
- Ensure adherence to all Embrave Policies and Procedures
- Attend evening and weekend events occasionally
- Perform other tasks as instructed by the Development and Education Manager
- Report stakeholders concerns to appropriate team members
What you bring to the table:
- Enrolled in Post-Secondary courses in Social Development/Sciences or related field
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Able to work both independently under minimal supervision and with others in a collaborative environment
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Able to effectively deal with inquiries and concerns from all levels of staff
- Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Ability and willingness to work some evenings and/or weekends
- Highly ethical with confidential and sensitive information
- Fluency in additional languages would be an asset
- Knowledge of Peel based networks, collaboratives and organizations representing diverse ethno-cultural groups or the ability to make such connections an asset
- Some knowledge of women’s issues and anti-oppression
- A feminist, anti-racist and anti-oppression analysis of violence against women
The following qualifications are considered assets:
- Social Development studies with focus on program and education
- Fluency in additional languages would be an asset
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
