The Fundraising Development Officer will provide support to Embrave’s Development and Education Manager and Administrative Leadership Team.

What to expect in this Role:

As Fundraising Development Officer (Contract-Summer student), you are responsible for providing day-to-day support to the Development and Education Manager in the effective and timely delivery of various Fundraising Development Officer functions. This is nine (9) weeks contract and functions include Development and Education Program-related projects.

The Fundraising Development Officer will provide administrative and logistical support to Development and Education Manager and other team members. Apart from these administrative responsibilities, Fundraising Development Officer could also assist with:

  • Creating and developing new fundraising opportunities to bring in revenue
  • Leading Embrave’s annual fundraising events (including the Mothers’ Day luncheon, The Celebrave Gala, etc.) and work closely with the Fundraising Committee and staff to bring these events to fruition
  • Maintaining the Donor Perfect database system
  • Developing innovative grant proposals and applications, look for grant opportunities that meet the grant guidelines keeping the program plans updated so that team members can have a clear view of the status of the program
  • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on grant activities in accordance with grant agreements
  • Achieving annual fundraising targets and reports and assist manage expense budgets
  • Developing and writing communication and fundraising materials such as direct mail campaigns, newsletters, e- communications as needed
  • Identifying and cultivating third-party events for which Embrave is a beneficiary with an emphasis on promoting peer- to-peer fundraising
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures as outlined by the organization to minimize risks
  • Ensure adherence to all Embrave Policies and Procedures
  • Attend evening and weekend events occasionally
  • Perform other tasks as instructed by the Development and Education Manager
  • Report stakeholders concern to appropriate team members

What you bring to the table:

  • Enrolled in Post-Secondary courses in Fundraising Management/Programs or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to work both independently under minimal supervision and with others in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Able to effectively deal with inquiries and concerns from all levels of staff
  • Proven ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines 
  • Highly ethical with confidential and sensitive information
  • Some knowledge of women’s issues and anti-oppression
  • A feminist, anti-racist and anti-oppression analysis of violence against women 

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • Social Development studies with focus on program and education
  • Fluency in additional languages would be an asset
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, 35 hours weekly, 7 hours/day

Salary: $ 22.20/hr + vacation 4%
